چکیده

Plasma outflows from gamma-ray bursts (GRB), pulsar winds, and relativistic jets radiate high energy emission. However, the radiation damping effect is ignored in conventional simulations. In this letter, we study the radiation damping effect on particle acceleration via Poynting fluxes in two-andhalf-dimensional particle-in-cell (PIC) plasma simulation with magnetized electron-positron plasmas. Radiation damping force is self-consistently calculated for each particle, and the accumlated effect from radiation reduces the acceleration force and converts particle energy to radiation. The emitted radiation is peaked within a few degrees from the direction of the Poynting flux and strongly linearly polarized, which may be detectable in GRB observations. Self-consistent radiative effect on relativistic electromagnetic particle acceleration(∗)

— We study the radiation damping effect on the relativistic acceleration of electron-positron plasmas with two-and-half–dimensional particle-incell(PIC) simulation. Particles are accelerated by Poynting flux via the diamagnetic relativistic pulse accelerator(DRPA), and decelerated by the self-consistently solved radiation damping force. With Ωce/ωpe ≥ 10, the Lorentz factor of the highest energ...

Particle Acceleration and the Production of Relativistic Outflows in Advection-Dominated Accretion Disks with Shocks

Relativistic outflows (jets) of matter are commonly observed from systems containing black holes. The strongest outflows occur in the radio-loud systems, in which the accretion disk is likely to have an advection-dominated structure. In these systems, it is clear that the binding energy of the accreting gas is emitted primarily in the form of particles rather than radiation. However, no compreh...

A Self-consistent Model for the Formation of Relativistic Outflows in Advection-dominated Accretion Disks with Shocks

In this Letter, we suggest that the relativistic protons powering the outflows emanating from radio-loud systems containing black holes are accelerated at standing, centrifugally supported shocks in hot advection-dominated accretion disks. Such disks are ideal sites for first-order Fermi acceleration at shocks because the gas is tenuous, and consequently the mean free path for particle-particle...

Particle Acceleration and the Formation of Relativistic Outflows in Viscous Accretion Disks with Shocks

In this Letter, we present a new self-consistent theory for the production of the relativistic outflows observed from radio-loud black hole candidates and active galaxies as a result of particle acceleration in hot, viscous accretion disks containing standing, centrifugally supported isothermal shocks. This is the first work to obtain the structure of such disks for a relatively large value of ...

Wien Fireball Model of Relativistic Outflows in Active Galactic Nuclei

We study steady and spherically symmetric outflows of pure electron-positron pair plasma as a possible acceleration mechanism of relativistic jets up to a bulk Lorentz factor of greater than 10. We assume that at the inner boundary a “Wien fireball” is realized, which is optically thick to Compton scattering but thin to absorption and in a Wien equilibrium state between pairs and photons at a r...
